The new library named after the Colombian Nobel laureate, Gabriel García Márquez, opened in Barcelona in 2022. Situated in the working-class district of Sant Martí de Provencals the library honours the life of the author, who had a close relationship with the city of Barcelona. He lived there from 1967-1975. The new library is a 4,000 sqm timber-framed building awarded with a gold LEED certificate, the highest rating for sustainability. GRID was chosen as library interior with customised book stands, seating islands, book displays etc.
